This lady came to our office pregnant and was going through stress. She had nothing prepared for delivery, no money nor things for the baby. Nji offered counselling sessions due to her mental health situation. The father of the child had bailed out on her. She had no resources to prepare for the coming baby and was stressed out.
After Nji’s sessions with her, he followed the referral pathway to contact our health cluster partners WHO who asked us to contact UNFPA because it was a GBV due to deprivation of resources for the lady and her baby by the husband.
Luckily UNFPA had delivery kits with everything in it to support a woman ready to give birth. They provided that and also contacted their doctors at the General hospital Buea who attended to the lady until she gave birth on June 17th 2022.
All the lady’s hospital bills were paid by UNFPA.
The baby and mother are ok.
Good Job team impact!
