In a vibrant celebration of the 39th International Women’s Day, the Hadassah Foundation partnered with Reach Out and PESUCOOP-BOD to honor the resilient women of Bachuo-Akagbe—a village nestled in the Manyu Division of Mamfe, Cameroon. Here’s a glimpse into the enriching two-days event:
- Knowledge and Joy:
- Beyond festivities, the program was an opportunity for learning and growth.
- Self-building sessions covered critical topics: gender-based violence (GBV) and mental health.
- GBV Awareness:
- The crisis-affected regions of Cameroon face the scourge of GBV.
- By raising awareness, we aim to reduce GBV’s impact on women’s personal development and participation.
- Community Resilience:
- Bachuo-Akagbe, like many villages in the region, grapples with ongoing crises.
- Our efforts focused on sensitization, empowering both internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the host community.
- Program Highlights:
- Day 1: A campfire night brought together discussions on reproductive health, GBV awareness, mental well-being, and trauma healing.
- Day 2: Activities fostered social cohesion—football, tug of war, traditional dances, the local African game “sizo and dodging” and awarded prizes
This transformative event unfolded on March 13th and 14th, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on the women of Bachuo-Akagbe
